చాలా చాలా సంతోషంగా ఉంది. గతేడాది ‘సంక్రాంతికి వస్తున్నాం’తో మరిచిపోలేని సంక్రాంతి విజయాన్ని అందుకున్నాను. ఇప్పుడు ‘అనగనగా ఒక రాజు’తో మరోసారి ప్రేక్షకుల మనసు దోచుకుంటాననే నమ్మకం ఉంది.
మీ పాత్ర ఎలా ఉండబోతుంది?
ఈ సినిమాలో నా పాత్ర పేరు చారులత. సంపన్న కుటుంబంలో పుట్టిన తండ్రి గారాల పట్టి లాంటి పాత్ర. ఇంట్లో యువరాణిలా పెరుగుతుంది. చాలా మంచి అమ్మాయి. అమాయకంగా, సున్నితమైన మనసు కలిగి ఉంటుంది. క్యూట్ గా బిహేవ్ చేస్తుంది. నన్ను పూర్తి కామెడీ పాత్రలో చూడబోతున్నారు.
చారులత పాత్ర కోసం ఎలాంటి హోంవర్క్ చేశారు?
ఇది చాలా భిన్నమైన పాత్ర. నిజ జీవితంలో కాలేజ్ సమయంలో ఒకరిద్దరిని ఇలాంటి వారిని చూసి ఉన్నాను. డైరెక్టర్ ఇచ్చిన ఇన్ పుట్స్ ని బట్టి, నాకున్న అవగాహనను బట్టి ఈ పాత్రలో ఒదిగిపోయే ప్రయత్నం చేశాను. నా నిజ జీవిత పాత్రకు పూర్తి భిన్నంగా ఈ పాత్రను చేయాల్సి వచ్చింది. నేను ప్రాక్టికల్ గా ఉంటాను. చారులత పాత్ర మాత్రం ఎమోషనల్, సెన్సిటివ్ గా ఉంటుంది.
నవీన్ గారితో కలిసి పని చేయడం ఎలా ఉంది?
నవీన్ గారితో వర్క్ చేయడం అనేది.. సినిమా టీచింగ్ స్కూల్ లా ఉంది. సంక్రాంతికి వస్తున్నాంలో కామెడీ ఒకలా ఉంటే, నవీన్ కామెడీ మరోలా ఉంటుంది. పైగా సంక్రాంతికి వస్తున్నాం సినిమా కామెడీగా ఉన్నా.. నా పాత్ర కాస్త సీరియస్ గా ఉంటుంది. కానీ, ఇందులో పూర్తిగా కామెడీగా ఉంటుంది. ఇందులో టైమింగ్ అనేది చాలా ముఖ్యం. పంచ్ డైలాగ్స్ ని కరెక్ట్ టైమింగ్ లో చెప్పడం అనేది ఛాలెంజింగ్ గా అనిపించింది. ఇప్పటివరకు నేను చేసిన పాత్రల్లో ఇదే ఎక్కువ ఛాలెంజింగ్ అని చెప్పవచ్చు. కామెడీ అనేది చాలా కష్టం. పైగా ఇందులో కామెడీ కామెడీ కొత్తగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ సినిమాలో భాగం కావడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది.
చారులత పాత్ర మీ కెరీర్ కి ఎంత ఉపయోగపడుతుంది.
ఇలా పూర్తిస్థాయి కామెడీ పాత్ర చేయడం ఇదే తొలిసారి. ఈ సినిమా వల్ల నటిగా నేను మరింత ఓపెన్ అయ్యాను. లక్కీ భాస్కర్ లోని సుమతి పాత్రకు ఈ చారులత పాత్ర పూర్తి భిన్నమైనది. దర్శకులు ఆ పాత్రలను మలిచిన తీరుకి తగ్గట్టుగా నన్ను నేను మలుచుకుంటాను. ఇందులో అద్భుతమైన కామెడీ టైమింగ్ చూస్తారు.
ఇందులో మాస్ డ్యాన్స్ నెంబర్ చేశారు కదా.. ఎలా ఉంది?
భీమవరం బాల్మా, రాజు గారి పెళ్ళిరో లాంటి క్యూట్ మాస్ డ్యాన్స్ నెంబర్స్ ఈ సినిమాలో ఉన్నాయి. సాధారణంగా నేను డ్యాన్స్ చేయడానికి సిగ్గుపడుతుంటాను. కానీ, ఈ సినిమాలో అలాంటి ఇబ్బంది కలగలేదు. చాలా సరదాగా షూట్ చేశాము. ఇందులోని ప్రతి పాట బాగా వచ్చింది.
గోదావరి ప్రాంతంలో చిత్రీకరణ అనుభూతి ఎలా ఉంది?
చాలా బాగుంది. అక్కడి ప్రజలు బాగా చూసుకున్నారు. ఎన్నో వంటకాలు తిన్నాను. ఆలయాలతో పాటు చుట్టుపక్కల ప్రాంతాలను సందర్శించాను. అక్కడి ప్రజలు సినిమా అంటే ప్రత్యేక అభిమానం చూపిస్తుంటారు. గోదావరి ప్రాంతంలో షూటింగ్ అనుభూతిని ఎప్పటికీ మరిచిపోలేను.
సినిమాలలో నాయిక పాత్ర ప్రాధాన్యతపై మీ అభిప్రాయం?
ఇప్పుడు సినిమాలలో హీరోయిన్ పాత్రలకు ఎంతో ప్రాధాన్యత ఉంటుంది. అలాంటి ప్రాధాన్యత ఉన్న పాత్రలు లభించడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది. లక్కీ భాస్కర్ ఒక బాబుకి తల్లిగా కనిపించాను. సంక్రాంతికి వస్తున్నాంలో ఐపీఎస్ గా కనిపించాను. ఇప్పుడు పూర్తి భిన్నమైన పాత్రలో కనిపించనున్నాను. నటిగా నన్ను మరో కోణంలో చూపించే పాత్ర ఇది.
కథల ఎంపికలో ఎలాంటి జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకుంటారు?
నా దృష్టిలో కథే హీరో. కథ ఎలా ఉంది?, దర్శకుడు ఆ కథను, అందులోని పాత్రలను ఎలా చూపించబోతున్నారు అనేది ఆలోచిస్తాను. హీరో ఎవరనేది ముఖ్యం కాదు. కథకు, పాత్రకు ప్రాధాన్యం ఇస్తాను. ఈ పాత్ర నా కెరీర్ కి ఎలా ఉపయోగపడుతుంది అనేది చూస్తాను.
సితార సంస్థలో ఇది మీకు మూడో సినిమా.. సితారలో వరుస సినిమాలు చేయడం ఎలా ఉంది?
సితార సంస్థ నాకు కుటుంబం లాంటిదని భావిస్తాను. సితార యువ ప్రతిభను ప్రోత్సహించడంలో ముందు ఉంటుంది. ఆ సంస్థ నుంచి నాకు వరుస ఆసక్తికర సినిమాలు రావడం అదృష్టంగా భావిస్తున్నాను. విభిన్న సినిమాలు, విభిన్న పాత్రలు చేస్తున్నాను. సితార బ్యానర్ లో పని చేయడం చాలా సంతోషంగా ఉంది.
దర్శకుడు మారి గురించి?
నూతన దర్శకుడు అయినప్పటికీ, ఆయనకు ఫుల్ క్లారిటీ ఉంది. ప్రతిభగల దర్శకుడు. ఓపిక ఎక్కువ. ఏదైనా సన్నివేశంలో ఎక్కువ టేక్స్ తీసుకున్నా.. ఆయన విసుక్కోరు, నవ్వుతూనే ఉంటారు. ఓపికగా ఉంటూ నటీనటుల నుంచి మంచి నటన రాబట్టుకున్నారు.
సినీ ప్రయాణం ఎలా ఉంది? సెటిల్ అయ్యాను అనుకుంటున్నారా?
నా దృష్టిలో సినీ ప్రయాణం అనేది ముగింపు లేని పరుగు పందెం లాంటిది. కొత్త కొత్త వాళ్ళు వస్తూ ఉంటారు. కాబట్టి విభిన్న పాత్రలు చేస్తూ నిరంతరం పరుగెడుతూనే ఉండాలి. నా వరకు సెటిల్ అయ్యాను, ఫలానా స్థానానికి చేరుకున్నాను లాంటి లెక్కలు ఉండవు. చేతిలో పని ఉండటం ముఖ్యమని భావిస్తాను.
తదుపరి ప్రాజెక్ట్ లు?
నాగ చైతన్య గారితో వృషకర్మ సినిమా చేస్తున్నాను. మరికొన్ని ఆసక్తికర కథలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి. ఆ చిత్రాలకు సంబంధించిన అధికారిక ప్రకటనలు త్వరలో వస్తాయి.

This Sankranthi, Anaganaga Oka Raju is set to arrive before audiences as a complete entertainment feast. Starring star entertainer Naveen Polishetty as the hero, the film features Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead. It is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, and presented by Srikara Studios. The film is directed by debutant Mari, with music composed by Mickey J Meyer.
Right from the beginning, the promotional material has stood out with its freshness and has grabbed audience attention. Positioned as a true festive entertainer, Anaganaga Oka Raju is slated for a theatrical release on January 14, 2026. Coming after three consecutive blockbusters from Naveen Polishetty, expectations around the film are high, and the recently released trailer has doubled that excitement. As the film gears up for release amid strong buzz, heroine Meenakshi Chaudhary spoke to the media and shared several interesting details about the project.
You have films like Guntur Kaaram, Sankranthiki Vastunnam, and now Anaganaga Oka Raju releasing for Sankranthi one after another. How does that feel?
It feels really, really happy. Last year, Sankranthiki Vastunnam gave me an unforgettable Sankranthi success. Now, with Anaganaga Oka Raju, I’m confident I’ll once again win the hearts of the audience.
How will your character be in this film?
My character’s name is Charulatha. She comes from a wealthy family and is pampered by her father. She’s brought up like a princess at home. She’s a very good girl, innocent, soft-hearted, and sensitive. Her behavior is cute, and audiences will see me in a full-fledged comedy role.
What kind of homework did you do for the role of Charulatha?
It’s a very different character. During my college days, I had seen one or two people with similar traits in real life. Based on the inputs given by the director and my own understanding, I tried to completely immerse myself in the character. This role is totally different from who I am in real life. I’m a practical person, whereas Charulatha is emotional and sensitive.
How was it working with Naveen Polishetty?
Working with Naveen feels like being in a film school. Comedy in Sankranthiki Vastunnam is one kind, but Naveen’s comedy has a completely different rhythm. Even though Sankranthiki Vastunnam was a comedy, my role there was slightly serious. In this film, I’m completely into comedy. Timing is extremely important here. Delivering punch dialogues at the right moment felt quite challenging. Among all the roles I’ve done so far, this has been the most challenging. Comedy is very tough, and here the humor is fresh and new. I’m really happy to be part of this film.
How important is the character of Charulatha to your career?
This is the first time I’m doing a full-length comedy role. This film has helped me open up more as an actor. The character of Charulatha is completely different from Sumathi in Lucky Bhaskar. I mold myself according to how the director designs the character. In this film, audiences will see some excellent comedy timing from me.
You’ve done mass dance numbers in this film. How was that experience?
There are cute mass dance numbers like Bhimavaram Balma and Raju Gari Pelliro in this film. Generally, I feel a bit shy while dancing, but I didn’t feel that discomfort here at all. We shot the songs with a lot of fun. Every song in the film has turned out really well.
How was the experience of shooting in the Godavari region?
It was wonderful. The people there took great care of us. I ate so many different dishes, visited temples, and explored nearby places. People in the Godavari region have a special love for cinema. I’ll never forget the experience of shooting there.
What’s your opinion on the importance of heroine roles in films today?
Nowadays, heroine roles carry a lot of importance. I’m happy to be getting such meaningful roles. In Lucky Bhaskar, I appeared as a mother to a child. In Sankranthiki Vastunnam, I played an IPS officer. Now, I’ll be seen in a completely different role. This character shows me in a new dimension as an actor.
What kind of care do you take while selecting stories?
For me, the story is the real hero. I look at how strong the story is and how the director plans to present it and the characters. Who the hero is doesn’t matter much. I prioritize the story and my role, and I consider how that role will help my career.
This is your third film with Sithara Entertainments. How does it feel to do back-to-back films with them?
I consider Sithara Entertainments like a family. They’re always at the forefront when it comes to encouraging young talent. I feel lucky to get back-to-back interesting films from this banner. I’m doing diverse films and diverse roles, and I’m very happy working with Sithara.
Your thoughts on director Mari?
Even though he’s a debut director, he has complete clarity. He’s very talented and extremely patient. Even if a scene requires many takes, he never gets irritated and always keeps smiling. With patience, he managed to bring out very good performances from the actors.
How do you see your journey in cinema? Do you feel settled now?
I see a film career as a never-ending race. New people keep coming in, so you have to keep running continuously by doing diverse roles. I don’t think in terms of being settled or reaching a certain position. For me, having work in hand is what truly matters.
Your upcoming projects?
I’m doing Vrushakarma with Naga Chaitanya. There are also a few other interesting stories in discussion. Official announcements regarding those projects will be out soon.
