‘స్వాతిముత్యం’. ‘వర్ష బొల్లమ్మ’ ఈ చిత్ర కధానాయిక. లక్ష్మణ్.కె.కృష్ణ ఈ చిత్రం ద్వారా దర్శకుడిగా పరిచయం అవుతున్నారు. . వినోద భరితమైన ఈ కుటుంబ కథా చిత్రం విజయ దశమి కానుకగా అక్టోబర్ 5న ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు రానుంది. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో నేడు హైదరాబాద్ లోని ఏఎంబీ సినిమాస్ లో చిత్ర ట్రైలర్ విడుదల వేడుక ఘనంగా జరిగింది. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో గణేష్, వర్ష బొల్లమ్మ, నిర్మాత నాగ వంశీ, దర్శకుడు లక్ష్మణ్ పాల్గొన్నారు.

“నిన్న నైట్ ఒక మూవీ చూశానండీ.. దాంట్లో కూడా హీరో, హీరోయిన్ మనలాగే కాఫీ షాప్ లో కలుస్తారు” అంటూ వర్ష బొల్లమ్మ పలికే సంభాషణతో ట్రైలర్ ఆహ్లాదకరంగా ప్రారంభమైంది. వర్షతో తొలి చూపులోనే గణేష్ ప్రేమలో పడటం, ఆమె కూడా గణేష్ ని తిరిగి ప్రేమించడం వంటి క్యూట్ సన్నివేశాలతో ట్రైలర్ సాగుతుండగా వారికి ఊహించని సమస్య వస్తుంది. కాసేపట్లో పెళ్లి, ఏర్పాట్లు కూడా జరిగిపోయాయి.. ఆ సమయంలో వారికి వచ్చిన సమస్య ఏంటి?, దాని నుండి బయట పడటానికి ఏం చేశారు? వంటి సన్నివేశాలతో ట్రైలర్ ఆసక్తికరంగా సాగింది. సహజమైన సన్నివేశాలు, సంభాషణలతో ట్రైలర్ ఆద్యంతం ఆకట్టుకునేలా ఉంది. సన్నివేశాలకు తగ్గట్లు హృదయాన్ని హత్తుకునేలా ఉన్న నేపథ్య సంగీతంతో పాటు, “మీరు నాకు చూడగానే నచ్చేశారండీ.. అది కూడా ఎంతలా అంటే మిమ్మల్ని చూశాక ఇంకెవరినీ చూడకూడదని ఫిక్స్ అయ్యేంతలా”, “నా ఇంట్లో నాకేం తెలియట్లేదు బాబోయ్”, “ఏమే ఆ స్వీట్లు, జాంగ్రీలు లోపల పెట్టించు”, “ఓవరాల్ గా క్యారెక్టర్ లో మావాడు స్వాతిముత్యం” వంటి సంభాషణలు విశేషంగా ఆకట్టుకంటున్నాయి. మొత్తానికి ట్రైలర్ చూస్తుంటే ఈ దసరాకు కుటుంబమంతా కలిసి చూసి సరదాగా పండగ చేసుకునేలా సినిమా ఉండబోతుందని అర్థమవుతోంది.

ఈ సందర్భంగా దర్శకుడు లక్ష్మణ్ మాట్లాడుతూ.. “ముందుగా నేను గణేష్ కి థాంక్స్ చెప్పుకోవాలి. ఎందుకంటే ఈ స్టోరీ రాశాక నేను ముందు కలిసింది గణేష్ ని. ఈ కథ అంగీకరించినందుకు గణేష్ కి బిగ్ థాంక్స్. ఈ సినిమా రెగ్యులర్ ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్టైనర్ అయితే కాదు. సినిమాలో కొత్త పాయింట్ ఉంది. చిన్న టౌన్ లో ఒకబ్బాయికి గవర్నమెంట్ జాబ్ వచ్చిన వెంటనే ఫ్యామిలీ మెంబెర్స్ పెళ్లి చేసే విధానం, ఆ సిచ్యువేషన్ లో అబ్బాయికి వచ్చే ప్రాబ్లమ్ చూపించబోతున్నాం. చాలా విచిత్రంగా ఉంటుంది. అబ్బాయి లైఫ్ లో ఒక విచిత్రమైన ప్రాబ్లెమ్ వస్తే, ఆ అబ్బాయి ఎలా ఫేస్ చేస్తాడు? ఆ పరిస్థితులు ఎలా ఉంటాయి? మన చుట్టూ ఉండేవారు ఆ ప్రాబ్లెమ్ కి ఎలా రియాక్ట్ అవుతారు? ఇలా ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉంటుంది. సినిమా చాలా బాగా వచ్చింది. గణేష్ కూడా చాలా బాగా చేశాడు. ఈ కథ రాస్తున్నప్పుడే హీరోయిన్ గా వర్ష బాగుంటుందని అనుకున్నాను. ఆమె పేరు సజెస్ట్ చేయగానే ప్రొడ్యూసర్స్ కూడా వెంటనే ఒప్పుకున్నారు. ఇంకా ఈ సినిమాలో నటించిన రావు రమేష్ గారు, నరేష్ గారు, గోపరాజు రమణ గారు, ప్రగతి గారు, సురేఖా వాణి గారు, వెన్నెల కిషోర్ గారు అందరూ సూపర్ గా చేశారు. ఈ సినిమాలో వారిని చూస్తుంటే మన ఫ్యామిలీ మెంబర్స్ ని చూసినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. వంశీ(నిర్మాత నాగ వంశీ) అన్నకు బిగ్ థాంక్స్. స్క్రిప్ట్ వినగానే నన్ను చాలా నమ్మారు. ఆయన నా మీద చూపించిన నమ్మకం, నాకు ఇచ్చిన భరోసాకి ధన్యవాదాలు. మహతి స్వర సాగర్ చాలా మంచి సంగీతం ఇచ్చాడు. సినిమాకి పని చేసిన అందరికీ థాంక్స్” అన్నారు.

వర్ష బొల్లమ్మ మాట్లాడుతూ.. “మీ అందరికీ ట్రైలర్ నచ్చిందని అనుకుంటున్నాను. మీ నవ్వు ముఖాలు చూస్తుంటేనే ట్రైలర్ నచ్చిందని అనిపిస్తుంది. కొత్త ప్రతిభకు పెద్ద ప్రొడక్షన్ హౌస్ లో అవకాశం ఇవ్వడమనేది చాలా పెద్ద విషయం. థ్యాంక్యూ వంశీ గారు ఈ అవకాశం ఇచ్చినందుకు. లక్ష్మణ్ గారి గురించి చెప్పాలంటే.. స్మాల్ టౌన్ నుంచి వచ్చిన వారిలో ఒక ఇన్నోసెన్స్ ఉంటుంది. ఆది ఆయనలోనూ, ఆయన రైటింగ్ లోనూ, ఈ సినిమాలోనూ కనిపిస్తుంది. గణేష్ కిది మొదటి సినిమా అయినా చాలా అద్భుతంగా చేశాడు. ఆయన క్రమశిక్షణ, సెట్స్ అందరితో నడుచుకునే విధానం చాలా బాగుంది. గణేష్ కష్టానికి తగ్గ ఫలితం వస్తుందని ఆశిస్తున్నాను. అలాగే ఈ సినిమా మీ అందరికీ నచ్చుతుందని కోరుకుంటున్నాను” అన్నారు.

గణేష్ మాట్లాడుతూ.. ” 2020 లో కరోనా వచ్చిన టైంలో ఒక సినిమా స్టార్ట్ చేద్దామని కంగారు పడుతున్న టైంలో లక్ష్మణ్ వచ్చి ఈ కథ చెప్పాడు. ఈ కథ చేస్తే తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు ఖచ్చితంగా ఆదరిస్తారని నమ్మి సితార దగ్గరకు తీసుకెళ్లడం జరిగింది. కథ వినగానే ఒక్క క్షణం కూడా ఆలోచించకుండా ఒప్పుకున్నారు. ఇంత భారీ తారాగణంతో సినిమా అద్భుతంగా తెరకెక్కి ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వస్తుంది అంటే దానికి ప్రధాన కారణం వంశీ గారు. ఆయనకు నా కృతఙ్ఞతలు. నన్ను నేను మొదటిసారి బిగ్ స్క్రీన్ మీద చూసుకుంటున్నాను. టెన్షన్ గా ఉంది. ఏం చెప్పాలో, ఎలా ఉండాలో కూడా నాకు అర్థంకావట్లేదు. కానీ ట్రైలర్ లో చూసినట్టుగానే ఈ సినిమా చాలా సరదాగా.. మన ఇంట్లోనో, మన పక్కింట్లోనో జరిగే కథ లాగా ఉంటుంది. సినిమా చాలా బాగుంది. మంచి మ్యూజిక్ అందించిన మహతి గారికి, నేను ఇంత అందంగా ఉంటానా అని నాకు నేనే అనుకునే అంత అందంగా చూపించిన డీఓపీ సూర్య గారికి, నేషనల్ అవార్డు విన్నర్ ఎడిటర్ నవీన్ నూలి గారికి థాంక్స్. ఇంత మంచి స్టొరీ నాకు ఇచ్చిన లక్ష్మణ్ బ్రదర్ కి థాంక్స్. వర్ష నన్ను కొత్త హీరోలాగా ట్రీట్ చేయలేదు. సెట్ లో చాలా సపోర్ట్ గా నిలిచింది. ఈ సినిమాను థియేటర్స్ లో మీరందరూ చూసి ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారని ఆశిస్తున్నాను” అన్నారు.

Swathimuthyam is a feel-good family entertainer produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas. Ahead of its release for Dasara, the film’s trailer was launched today.

The trailer hints at a perfect entertainment package with loads of humour, refreshing romance, family emotions and good music. The trailer starts like any other boy-meets-girl story but a hilarious twist in the life of the male protagonist invites confusion ahead of his marriage.

Initially, Ganesh expresses his liking for Varsha. He has made up his mind that she’s his soulmate and the girl reciprocates similar feelings towards him. Just when they look set to tie the knot, an unexpected problem turns Ganesh’s life on its head and leads to a series of misunderstandings. How does an innocent Ganesh overcome the roadblocks in his life? The exchanges between Ganesh and Rao Ramesh ensure rip-roaring laughter.

“This is a story of an innocent boy from a small town and how humour is born out of a few wacky situations in his life. The characters in the film will be very relatable. I am thankful to Ganesh for accepting this story. Varsha was my first choice for the film and she has done a fabulous job. Veterans like Naresh, Pragathi Suresh, Rao Ramesh, Goparaju Ramana were like an extended family on set. Though it may appear like a regular family entertainer, there’s an interesting conflict in the film. I am grateful to Vamsi garu for his support and Mahati for his fantastic music,” shared director Lakshman K Krishna.

“I heard the story of Swathimuthyam before COVID-19, believed in it and Sithara Entertainments agreed to it immediately. I am thankful to Vamsi garu for making this happen. I am nervous about watching myself on the big screen. It’s an enjoyable film for all age groups. Cinematographer Suryaah, editor Navin Nooli, composer Mahati and art director Avinash Kolla made for a strong technical team. Varsha never treated me like a newcomer and she was so cordial and I only had to react to a situation while acting with her,” stated Ganesh.

“I am hopeful that many of you will like the trailer. I can see smiling faces. It’s a huge thing for an upcoming actor to get an opportunity in a big production house and I’ll always be indebted to Vamsi garu for the same. I come from a small town too and I see a similar innocence in Lakshman, his writing and the film. I am excited to watch the film on the big screen too. Ganesh is a fine actor, his discipline and chivalry on sets are amazing,” said actress Varsha Bollamma.

“This is an ideal family film that will work best for the festive season. I am sure audiences will watch it in big numbers. The film needed an innocent-looking face as a lead and hence we picked Ganesh. Swathimuthyam will have good entertainment and impressive performances,” mentioned producer S Naga Vamsi.

Swathimuthyam promises the viewer an engaging confusion comedy in the garb of a family entertainer with terrific on-screen chemistry between the lead pair. The film, slated to release for Dasara on October 5, stars Ganesh and Varsha Bollamma in the lead. Directed by debutant Lakshman K Krishna, the film has music by Mahati Swara Sagar.

లక్ష్మణ్: మాది తూర్పు గోదావరి జిల్లా పిఠాపురం. అందరి దర్శకుల లాగే చిన్నప్పటి నుంచే సినిమాలు అంటే ఆసక్తి. అప్పట్లో స్కూల్ లో చిన్న చిన్న డ్రామాలు రాసేవాడిని. సినిమాల మీద ఇష్టంతో ఇంజనీరింగ్ ని మధ్యలో వదిలేసి హైదరాబాద్ వచ్చేశాను. హైదరాబాద్ రాకముందే ముగ్గురు నలుగురం కలిసి ఒక టీమ్ లా షార్ట్ ఫిలిమ్స్ చేసేవాళ్ళం. ఆ టీమ్ లో ఒక ఫ్రెండ్ కి డైరెక్టర్ శ్రీకాంత్ అడ్డాల దగ్గర అసిస్టెంట్ డైరెక్టర్ గా ఛాన్స్ వస్తే, అతన్ని నమ్ముకొని మేమంతా ఇక్కడికి వచ్చేశాం. అసిస్టెంట్ డైరెక్టర్ గా చాలా చోట్ల ట్రై చేశాను గాని వర్కౌట్ అవ్వలేదు. మళ్ళీ షార్ట్ ఫిలిమ్స్ చేయడం స్టార్ట్ చేశాను. రూ.3 వేల లోపు బడ్జెట్ తో ‘లాస్ట్ విష్’ అనే షార్ట్ ఫిల్మ్ చేశా. అది చూసి ఒకాయన లక్షా 30 వేలు బడ్జెట్ పెట్టడంతో ‘కృష్ణమూర్తి గారింట్లో’ అనే షార్ట్ ఫిల్మ్ చేశాం. దానికి మంచి ఆదరణ లభించింది. సైమా షార్ట్ ఫిల్మ్ అవార్డ్స్ లో బెస్ట్ డైరెక్టర్ గా అవార్డు వచ్చింది. అప్పుడు నేను చెప్పిన ఒక స్టోరీ నచ్చి, సైమా వాళ్ళు మూవీ ప్రొడ్యూస్ చేస్తామన్నారు కానీ అది కార్యరూపం దాల్చలేదు. ఆ తర్వాత ఒక ఫ్రెండ్ ప్రొడ్యూస్ చేస్తానన్నాడు. అయితే ముందు ట్రయల్ గా 12 లక్షల బడ్జెట్ తో ‘సదా నీ ప్రేమలో’ అనే ఇండిపెండెంట్ ఫిల్మ్ చేశాం. దానికి కూడా మంచి ప్రశంసలు దక్కాయి. ఇంతలో లాక్ డౌన్ రావడంతో ఆ సమయంలో ఒక మంచి ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్టైనర్ రాయాలన్న ఉద్దేశంతో ‘స్వాతిముత్యం’ స్టోరీ రాయడం జరిగింది.

ప్రశ్న: ఈ సినిమా కోసం  దేని నుంచైనా స్ఫూర్తి పొందారా?
లక్ష్మణ్: గోదావరి జిల్లాల్లో చిన్న చిన్న టౌన్స్ లో ఉదయాన్నే స్కూల్ టీచర్స్ వెళ్లడం, ఇంటి దగ్గర ఉండే చుట్టాలు వచ్చి మన మీద సెటైర్స్ వేయడం.. ఇలా మన చుట్టూ జరిగే సంఘటనల నుంచే ఈ కథ పుట్టింది. ఏదైనా సంఘటన జరిగినప్పుడు మన ఇంట్లో వాళ్ళు స్పందిస్తారు? పక్కింటి వాళ్ళు ఎలా స్పందిస్తారు? ఎవరి ఎమోషన్స్ ఎలా ఉంటాయి ? ఇలాంటివన్నీ ఈ సినిమాలో ఉంటాయి.

ప్రశ్న: అసలు ఈ సినిమా మెయిన్ ప్లాట్ ఏంటి?
లక్ష్మణ్: అబ్బాయి పేరు బాల మురళి కృష్ణ. ఇంజనీరింగ్ పూర్తి చేసి చిన్న టౌన్ లో అప్పుడే జూనియర్ ఇంజనీర్ గా గవర్నమెంట్ జాబ్ తెచ్చుకున్న ఒక యువకుడి కథ ఈ చిత్రం. జాబ్ రాగానే ఇంట్లో వాళ్ళు పెళ్లి చేద్దామని సంబంధాలు చూడటం మొదలుపెడతారు. ఒక సాధారణ పెళ్లిలో కూడా ఎన్ని కష్టాలు ఉంటాయనేది ఆసక్తికరంగా చూపించబోతున్నాం.

ప్రశ్న: కథ రాసుకున్నాక సితార సంస్థను సంప్రదించారా?
లక్ష్మణ్: నేను ఈ ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్టైనర్ ని కొత్త వాళ్ళతో చేయాలనుకున్నాను. అప్పుడే గణేష్ స్టోరీలు వింటున్నాడు. ఆ సమయంలో ఒక మ్యూచువల్ ఫ్రెండ్ ద్వారా గణేష్ ని కలిశాను. అయితే నేను మొదట గణేష్ కి ఈ కథ చెప్పలేదు. వాళ్ళ బ్రదర్ లా యాక్షన్ సినిమాలు చేస్తాడనుకుని నా దగ్గరున్న వేరే లైన్స్ చెప్పాను. అయితే గణేష్ మాత్రం నేను చేసిన ‘సదా మీ ప్రేమలో’ ట్రైలర్ చూసి, ఏదైనా సింపుల్ స్టోరీ ఉంటే చెప్పమని అడిగాడు. అప్పుడు ఈ కథ చెప్పడంతో గణేష్ కి బాగా నచ్చింది. ఆ తర్వాత వాళ్ళ ఫాదర్ సురేష్ గారికి చెప్పడం, ఆయనకు కూడా నచ్చడం. అక్కడి నుంచి సితారకు రావడం జరిగిపోయాయి.

ప్రశ్న: ‘స్వాతి ముత్యం’ అనే క్లాసిక్ టైటిల్ ని ఈ చిత్రానికి పెట్టే సాహసం ఎందుకు చేశారు?
లక్ష్మణ్: సాహసం అని కాదండి. రాధాకృష్ణ గారు కు (చినబాబు) గారికి స్టోరీ చెప్పకముందు వేరే వేరే టైటిల్ అనుకున్నాం. ఆయన మొత్తం కథ విన్నాక.. ఇందులో ఇన్నోసెంట్ క్యారెక్టర్స్ ఉన్నాయని ఆయన సజెస్ట్ చేశారు. ఇందులో విలన్ ఎవరూ ఉండరు. ఒక టౌన్ లో కొన్ని ఇన్నోసెంట్ క్యారెక్టర్స్ మధ్య జరిగే కథ ఇది. అందుకే ఆయన సజీషన్ తో ఈ టైటిల్ పెట్టాం. ఫస్ట్ ఈ టైటిల్ ప్రేక్షకులు ఎలా రిసీవ్ చేసుకుంటారో అని భయమేసింది. కమల్ హాసన్ గారు పోషించిన పాత్రతో పోలుస్తారేమో అని భయపడ్డా. కానీ చినబాబు గారు ఇచ్చిన సపోర్ట్ తో ముందుకెళ్ళాం.

ప్రశ్న: ఇది గణేష్ కి మొదటి సినిమా కదా.. వర్క్ షాప్స్ ఏమైనా చేశారా?
లక్ష్మణ్: మా ఇద్దరికీ ఇదే మొదటి సినిమా కదా. తనకి నేను చెప్పిన స్టోరీ అయితే నచ్చింది కానీ.. నేను ఎంతవరకు హ్యాండిల్ చేయగలనని అతనికి డౌట్స్ ఉండొచ్చు. అలాగే నాకు కూడా ఇతనితో అనుకున్న అవుట్ ఫుట్ ఇవ్వగలనా అనే డౌట్స్ వచ్చాయి. అయితే డైరెక్టర్ గా నేను, హీరోగా తను సక్సెస్ అవ్వాలని ఇద్దరం కలిసి ఎక్కువ ట్రావెల్ అయ్యి, చాలా వర్క్ షాప్స్ చేశాం. అలా ఒకరి మీద ఒకరికి కాన్ఫిడెన్స్ వచ్చింది. దాంతో సెట్స్ మీద ఎలాంటి ఇబ్బంది కలగలేదు.

ప్రశ్న: వర్ష బొల్లమ్మను ఎవరు ఎంపిక చేశారు?
లక్ష్మణ్: వర్ష ఎంపిక నాదే అండీ. ’96′ మూవీ చూసినప్పుడే ఆ అమ్మాయి నచ్చింది. మొదటి సినిమా చేస్తే ఈ అమ్మాయితో చేయాలనుకున్నాను. స్క్రిప్ట్ రాసుకునేటప్పుడే హీరోయిన్ పాత్రకు ఆమెని ఊహించుకునే రాసుకున్నాను. గణేష్ హీరోగా, సితార సంస్థ నిర్మాణం అనుకున్న తరువాత కొన్ని వేరే పేర్లు కూడా అనుకున్నాం. అయితే అదే టైంలో వర్ష నటించిన ‘మిడిల్ క్లాస్ మెలోడీస్’ రావడం, ఆమె పేరు సజెస్ట్ చేయగానే ప్రొడక్షన్ హౌస్ ఒప్పుకోవడం జరిగిపోయాయి.

ప్రశ్న: సినిమా ఫస్ట్ కాపీ చూసుకున్నారా?.. మీకు సంతృప్తి కలిగిందా?
లక్ష్మణ్: చూశానండీ.. చాలా బాగా వచ్చింది. ఫస్ట్ కాపీ వచ్చేవరకు అనుకున్న అవుట్ పుట్ వస్తుందా రాదా అని మనసులో చిన్న భయముండేది. కానీ అవుట్ పుట్ చూశాక హ్యాపీ. డీఓపీ సూర్య గురించి ప్రత్యేకంగా చెప్పాలి. మొదట నేను ఓ లవ్ స్టోరీ ఫిల్మ్ చేద్దామనుకున్నప్పుడు నాతో ట్రావెల్ అయ్యాడు. అయితే అది వర్కౌట్ అవ్వలేదు. ఈ సినిమా ఓకే అయ్యాక, డీఓపీ గురించి చర్చ వచ్చినప్పుడు నాగవంశీ గారు సూర్య అనే పర్సన్ ఉన్నాడని చెప్పారు. ఆ సూర్య, ఈ సూర్య ఒక్కరే అని తెలిసి వెంటనే తీసుకోవడం జరిగింది.

ప్రశ్న: ‘గాడ్ ఫాదర్’, ‘ది ఘోస్ట్’ వంటి పెద్ద సినిమాలతో పాటు విడుదలవుతుంది. అసలు ఈ నిర్ణయం ఎవరిది?.
లక్ష్మణ్: విడుదల తేదీ అనేది పూర్తిగా నిర్మాతల నిర్ణయం. ఇది ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్టైనర్ కాబట్టి ఫెస్టివల్ కి విడుదల చేస్తే బాగుంటుందన్న ఉద్దేశంతో దసరాకు విడుదల చేయాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నారు. అయితే చిరంజీవి గారు, నాగార్జున గారి సినిమాలతో పాటు విడుదల కావడం కొంచెం భయంగా ఉన్నా సంతోషంగా ఉంది.

ప్రశ్న: మీ అభిమాన హీరో ఎవరు?
లక్ష్మణ్: చిరంజీవి గారు. ఆయనతో సినిమా చేసే అవకాశం రాలేదు కానీ ఆయన సినిమా విడుదలవుతున్న రోజే నా సినిమా విడులవుతుంది. చిన్నప్పటి నుంచి నేను అభిమానించిన చిరంజీవి గారి సినిమాతో పాటు నా సినిమా విడుదల కావడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది.

ప్రశ్న: తదుపరి సినిమాల గురించి చెప్తారా?
లక్ష్మణ్: ఇంకా ఏం అనుకోలేదండి. కానీ ఇలా ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్టైనర్ కాకుండా ఈసారి కామెడీ థ్రిల్లర్ లేదా సీరియస్ డ్రామా చేయాలనే ఆలోచన ఉంది.

ప్రశ్న: దర్శకుడిగా మీకు స్ఫూర్తి ఎవరు?
లక్ష్మణ్: మణిరత్నం గారు, వంశీ గారు, బాపు గారు, జంధ్యాల గారు.

ప్రశ్న: నెక్స్ట్ సినిమా సితారలో ఉండొచ్చా?
లక్ష్మణ్: ఉండొచ్చు. ఖచ్చితంగా మాకే చేయాలని అగ్రిమెంట్ అలాంటివి ఏం తీసుకోలేదు. ఫ్రీడమ్ బాగా ఇస్తారు. మళ్ళీ సితారలో చేసే అవకాశముంది.

Director Lakshman K Krishna won the hearts with the teaser of his maiden venture, Swathimuthyam. The family entertainer with the worldly charm of its lead pair Ganesh and Varsha Bollamma is all set to spring surprises this festive season. The movie has a lineup of wonderful actors including Naresh, Rao Ramesh, Subbaraju, Vennela Kishore, Harshavardhan, Pammi Sai, Sapthagiri, Goparaju Ramana, Siva, among others. Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, the film is slated for a Dussehra release on October 5.

Here are the excerpts from Lakshman K Krishna’s interaction with media.

On the journey to movie industry

I hail form Pithapuram, East Godavari. I studied there and from my school days had a lot of interest in movies and was part of theatre. I wrote many plays also. During my engineering days, the interest became a passion, and I discontinued my studies. We formed a team and made short films in Kakinada with 5D camera. We got this from wedding shoots. One person from our team got a chance as an Assistant Director in Sreekanth Addala’s film. We came along with him. I tried a lot to put my scripts across to production houses but didn’t work out. I joined many small films as an associate but my candid nature, caused problems to me. I also did a few shorts for Tamada media. I made a 10-min short on a shoestring budget of Rs 2600. It was liked by a person and later on got a budget of Rs 1.6 lakhs to make “Krishnamurthy Gari Intlo”. It got a lot views and the hero and heroine did a series called “Geeta Subramanyam” later and became quite popular.

Then in Sainma short film awards, I got the Best Director award. That was the motivation. The organizing committee selected 12 people and listened to their stories. I got a break but couldn’t move ahead. Then I took the help of a friend who works in real estate but that project too didn’t work out. I was sceptical that if I can handle a feel good love story with drama and emotions. So, I made a 1-hour film – “Sadaa Mee Premalo” in a budget of 12 lakhs. The output of the film gave me a lot of confidence. It was screened at many places and the applause boosted my will to go ahead and make a bigger film. But during the lockdow,n a lot of things didn’t go as planned, and the story of “Swathimuthyam” evolved during that time. Lockdown gave a gap, and I wrote it during lockdown. My brother Raghava and I worked on the dialogues.

What’s the inspiration for Swathimuthyam?

This is born out of my personal experience. Normally, when you hit a slump in your career or life, many people including your closed ones throw satires at you. There is mockery all over. Sometimes, you can’t bear it. That generates a lot of drama and emotions. So, something I observed in my life sowed the seed for Swathimuthyam.

What’s the basic plot of Swathimuthyam?

It’s the story of a guy named Balamuralikrishna. He hails from a small town and gets a government job soon after his studies. Now, the whole family is hell bent of getting him married soon. What happens next and what challenges they face form the story.

On Ganesh becoming the main lead

A friend of mine knows Ganesh. He referred me to him. I told many stories to him with typical commercial plotting. But he asked me for a simple story as he was impressed with “Sadaa Mee Premalo” trailer and asked me for a story with a small setup. Then I narrated Swathimuthyam to him. He and his father, Suresh, liked it instantly.

Why the classic title Swathimuthyam?

We thought about many titles and kept one as a working title. Radhakrishna (Chinna Babu) garu suggested Swathimuthyam considering the innocence of hero’s character. I was scared at the beginning as it might mislead the audience. Then he said, we will release the trailer soon, so the audience are in right mood to watch the film.

On Ganesh’s performance and mutual trust in execution

Though we both had our qualms, we let them go with the mutual trust. We met many times and conducted workshops. This is a launch for both, and we interacted a lot about the film. We both were confident about each other.

Is Varsha your first choice?

She was my first choice. When I watched “96”, I thought to make a film with an actor like her. She was in my mind when I penned the female character of Swathimuthyam. When we were discussing about different actors then we happened to watch “Middle Class Melodies” and everyone decided to rope her in for the female lead.

Are you satisfied with the first copy?

I am completely satisfied with the first copy. My DOP Surya worked wonders. We collaborated in the past for a project and when Nagavamshi referred him then I was happy that we will be working again on my debut film.

On releasing along with big films on Dussehra

It’s our producer’s decision to go with the date. They want to give a family entertainer on the festival day. Being an ardent fan of Chiranjeevi, I am happy that my film is releasing in the same day as his.

What’s your next project?

Nothing planned as of now, but I may work on a Comedy Thriller.

Who are your inspirations to become a film director?

My all-time favourite directors are Maniratnam, Vamshy, Bapu, and Jandhyala. I grew up watching their films and now I am here waiting for the release of my first film.

Ganesh wins audience’s hearts and gets the perfect birthday gift with a special ‘teaser trailer’ of Swathimuthyam

Swathimuthyam, a feel-good family entertainer produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments, stars Ganesh and Varsha Bollamma in the lead roles. Directed by first-time filmmaker Lakshman K Krishna, the film has music by Mahathi Swara Sagar. Commemorating the birthday of the lead actor Ganesh, the makers released a special glimpse (teaser trailer) today.

In the colourful glimpse, the lead pair, on the cusp of marriage, try to understand each other better. The youngster is hesitant about conveying something to his fiancé and the latter asks if he has any problem. A series of confusions later, the girl comes to a conclusion, claiming, ‘I think I know why you have been single all your life.’ The intriguing camaraderie between the lead pair grabs your eyeballs.

The ‘teaser trailer’ further confirms that Swathi Muthyam is an ideal family entertainer catering to audiences across all age groups. The peppy background score by Mahati Swara Sagar adds bite to the glimpse. From the innocence of Ganesh to the appealing screen-presence of Varsha Bollamma, the glimpse increases our expectations from the film.

Two songs from the film Nee Chaaredu Kalle and Dum Dum Dum are a hit with music buffs already. Naresh, Rao Ramesh, Subbaraju, Vennela Kishore, Harshavardhan, Pammi Sai, Sapthagiri, Goparaju Ramana, Siva Narayana, Pragathi, Surekha Vani, Sunaina, Divya Sripada play important roles in the film too.  Swathimuthyam hits screens for this Dasara on October 5.
