కోలీవుడ్ స్టార్ సూర్య కథానాయకుడిగా కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ దర్శకత్వంలో రూపొందిన చిత్రం ‘రెట్రో’. పూజా హెగ్డే కథానాయిక. సూర్య, జ్యోతిక నేతృత్వంలోని 2D ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్ పతాకంపై రూపుదిద్దుకున్న ఈ చిత్రం, మే 1వ తేదీన ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా భారీస్థాయిలో విడుదల కానుంది. తెలుగునాట ప్రముఖ నిర్మాణ సంస్థ సితార ఎంటర్టైన్మెంట్స్ ఈ చిత్రాన్ని పంపిణీ చేస్తుండటం విశేషం. శనివారం సాయంత్రం హైదరాబాద్ లోని జేఆర్సీ కన్వెన్షన్ లో ‘రెట్రో’ ప్రీ రిలీజ్ వేడుక ఘనంగా జరిగింది. ప్రముఖ కథానాయకుడు విజయ్ దేవరకొండ ముఖ్య అతిథిగా హాజరయ్యారు.
ముఖ్య అతిథి, ప్రముఖ కథానాయకుడు విజయ్ దేవరకొండ మాట్లాడుతూ, “అందరికీ నమస్కారం. మీరందరూ బాగున్నారని అనుకుంటున్నాను. మీరందరూ బాగుండాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను. సినిమా గురించి మాట్లాడేముందు.. ముందుగా పహల్గాం బాధితులకు నివాళులు. సూర్య అన్న మూవీ ప్రమోషన్ కోసం నేను ఇక్కడికి రావడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది. నేను గజిని సినిమా చూసి సూర్య అన్నతో ప్రేమలో పడిపోయాను. ఎవర్రా ఈయన, ఇంత బాగా నటిస్తున్నాడు అనుకొని.. సూర్య అన్న నటించిన మిగతా సినిమాలన్నీ చూశాను. సూర్య సన్నాఫ్ కృష్ణన్ నా మనసుకి బాగా నచ్చిన సినిమా. చంచల సాంగ్ చూసి భావోద్వేగానికి గురయ్యాను. ఆ పాట నాకెప్పటికీ ఓ మంచి జ్ఞాపకం. సూర్య అన్నను తెరమీద చూసి.. అసలు ఈ మనిషి బాడీ ఏంటి, యాక్టింగ్ ఏంటి, డ్యాన్స్ ఏంటి? ఒక్కసారైనా జీవితంలో కలవాలి అనుకున్నాను. అలాంటిది ఇప్పుడు ఆయనతో వేదిక పంచుకోవడం ఎప్పటికీ మరిచిపోలేను. నటుడిగా సూర్య అన్న అంటే నాకెంతో ఇష్టం. ఆయన సినిమాల ఎంపిక మిగతా నటుల్లో స్ఫూర్తి నింపేలా ఉంటుంది. విభిన్న జానర్స్ లో సినిమాలు చేస్తుంటారు. రెట్రోతో సూర్య అన్న మరో ఘన విజయాన్ని అందుకోవాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను. అగరం ఫౌండేషన్ ద్వారా సూర్య అన్న ఎందరో విద్యార్థులకు అండగా నిలబడుతున్నారు. ఆయన స్ఫూర్తితో నేను కూడా విద్యార్థులకు సాయం చేయాలి అనుకుంటున్నాను. మే 1న విడుదలవుతున్న రెట్రో సినిమాని అందరూ చూసి ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారని ఆశిస్తున్నాను.” అన్నారు.
చిత్ర కథానాయకుడు సూర్య మాట్లాడుతూ, “ముందుగా పహల్గాం బాధితులకు నివాళులు. రెట్రో వేడుకకు విచ్చేసిన ప్రతి ఒక్కరికీ ధన్యవాదాలు. మీరు నాపై కురిపిస్తున్న ప్రేమ ఎంతో ఆనందాన్ని కలిగిస్తోంది. కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ గారి సినిమాలు ప్రత్యేకంగా ఉంటాయి. మేకింగ్ కొత్తగా ఉంటుంది. ఆయనతో కలిసి పని చేయడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది. రెట్రో ట్రైలర్ మీ అందరికీ నచ్చింది అనుకుంటున్నాను. సంతోష్ నారాయణన్ గారు అద్భుతమైన సంగీతం అందించారు. అలాగే తెలుగులో శ్యామ్ గారు బ్యూటిఫుల్ లిరిక్స్ రాశారు. ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ గారు, జోజు జార్జ్ గారు, జయరామ్ గారు, నాజర్ గారు లాంటి సీనియర్ నటులతో స్క్రీన్ షేర్ చేసుకోవడం హ్యాపీగా ఉంది. పూజ హెగ్డే నాకంటే ఎక్కువగా సినిమాని ప్రమోట్ చేస్తోంది. మీరు ట్రైలర్ లో చూసినట్టుగానే.. లవ్, కామెడీ, యాక్షన్, ఇంటెన్సిటీ అన్నీ సినిమాలో ఉంటాయి. మే 1న విడుదలవుతున్న రెట్రో మీ అందరికీ నచ్చుతుందని భావిస్తున్నాను. నాగవంశీ గారిది లక్కీ హ్యాండ్ అంటుంటారు. ఆయనతో చేతులు కలపడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది. నా తదుపరి చిత్రాన్ని నాగవంశీ గారి నిర్మాణంలో, వెంకీ అట్లూరి దర్శకత్వంలో చేస్తున్నాను. ఈ సందర్భంగా ఈ విషయాన్ని పంచుకోవడం ఆనందంగా ఉంది. మే 1న విడుదలవుతున్న నాని ‘హిట్-3′ కూడా విజయం సాధించాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను. విజయ్ నా సోదరుడు లాంటివాడు. విజయ్ జర్నీ చూస్తే నాకు గర్వంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. ‘కింగ్ డమ్’ సినిమా సక్సెస్ కావాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను. విజయ్ అగరం ఫౌండేషన్ గురించి మాట్లాడాడు. అయితే చిరంజీవి గారి బ్లడ్ బ్యాంక్ నా సేవా కార్యక్రమాలకు స్ఫూర్తి అని చెప్పవచ్చు. మా అగరం ఫౌండేషన్ కి ఎందరో తెలుగువారు అండగా ఉన్నారు. నాకు ఇన్నేళ్ళుగా సపోర్ట్ గా నిలుస్తూ వస్తున్న నా అభిమాన సోదరులకు, సోదరీమణులకు మనస్ఫూర్తిగా కృతఙ్ఞతలు.” అన్నారు.
అతిథి, ప్రముఖ దర్శకుడు వెంకీ అట్లూరి మాట్లాడుతూ, “ఇక్కడ చాలామంది సూర్య గారి అభిమానులున్నారు. వారిలో నేను కూడా ఉన్నాను. నా కాలేజ్ లైఫ్ లో సూర్య గారి సినిమా ఒక పాఠం లాంటిది. గజినీ సినిమా చూసి.. ఒక సినిమా ఇలా కూడా ఉంటుందా? ఒక నటుడు ఇంత కష్టపడతారా? అనుకున్నాను. నేను సినీ పరిశ్రమలోకి రావాలి అనుకుంటున్నప్పుడు చూసిన సినిమా అది. నాకెప్పుడూ ప్రత్యేకమైనదే. ఇక ‘సూర్య సన్నాఫ్ కృష్ణన్’ అయితే.. అది సినిమా కాదు, అదొక టెక్స్ట్ బుక్. ప్రేమలో ఎలా పడాలో నేర్పింది, విఫలమైతే దాని నుంచి ఎలా బయటపడాలో నేర్పింది, క్రమశిక్షణ కూడా నేర్పింది. సూర్య గారు ఎన్నో గొప్ప సినిమాలు చేశారు. ఆయన ప్రతి సినిమా నుంచి ఏదోకటి నేర్చుకున్నాము. ఇప్పుడు రెట్రోతో వస్తున్నారు. కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ గారి మేకింగ్ కొత్తగా ఉంటుంది. ఇలాంటి ట్రైలర్ కట్ నేనెప్పుడూ చూడలేదు. సినిమా కూడా ఇదే స్థాయిలో ఉంటుందని భావిస్తున్నాను. సూర్య గారు, విజయ్ గారు బ్రదర్స్ లా ఉన్నారు. ఇద్దరూ మల్టీస్టారర్ చేస్తే బాగుంటుంది అనిపిస్తుంది. మే 1న విడుదలవుతున్న రెట్రో పెద్ద బ్లాక్ బస్టర్ అవ్వాలని కోరుకుంటూ, టీం అందరికీ ఆల్ ది బెస్ట్.” అన్నారు.
ప్రముఖ నిర్మాత సూర్యదేవర నాగవంశీ మాట్లాడుతూ, “తెలుగులో రెట్రో సినిమాని విడుదల చేసే అవకాశమిచ్చిన సూర్య గారికి ధన్యవాదాలు. మిమ్మల్ని ఈ తరహా సినిమాలో చూడాలని తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు ఎంతగానో ఎదురుచూస్తున్నారు. ఈ చిత్రంతో మీరు ఘన విజయాన్ని అందుకుంటారని ఆశిస్తున్నాను. ఈ వేడుకకు విచ్చేసిన విజయ్ దేవరకొండ గారికి, సోదరుడు వెంకీ అట్లూరికి థాంక్స్.” అన్నారు.
చిత్ర సహ నిర్మాత కార్తికేయన్ సంతానం మాట్లాడుతూ, “2D ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్ బ్యానర్ తో కలిసి ఈ సినిమా నిర్మాణంలో భాగం కావడం సంతోషంగా ఉంది. మా టీం అందరికీ ఈ సినిమా ప్రత్యేకమైనది. అందరం ఎంతో కష్టపడి పనిచేశాము. సూర్య గారు చాలా మంచి మనిషి. ఆయన నుంచి ఎన్నో గొప్ప విషయాలు నేర్చుకున్నాను. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి విచ్చేసిన విజయ్ దేవరకొండ గారికి, వెంకీ అట్లూరి గారికి ధన్యవాదాలు. ఈ సినిమాని తెలుగులో విడుదల చేస్తున్న సితార ఎంటర్టైన్మెంట్స్ నాగవంశీ గారికి ప్రత్యేక కృతఙ్ఞతలు.” అన్నారు.
గీత రచయిత కాసర్ల శ్యామ్ మాట్లాడుతూ, “సూర్య గారికి తెలుగులో ఎందరో అభిమానులు ఉన్నారు. ఈ సినిమాలో ఉన్న ఆరు పాటలూ నేను రాయడం జరిగింది. కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ గారితో నాకిది రెండో సినిమా. తమిళ నుంచి అనువాదం లాగా కాకుండా, పక్కా తెలుగు లాగా రాశారని ఎందరో సూర్య గారి అభిమానులు నాకు మెసేజ్ లు చేయడం సంతోషం కలిగించింది.” అన్నారు.
నటుడు కరుణాకరన్ మాట్లాడుతూ, “నేను ఎంతగానో అభిమానించే సూర్య గారి సినిమాలో నటించడం అనేది నా కల నిజమైనట్టుగా ఉంది. నాకు ఈ అవకాశం ఇచ్చిన దర్శకుడు కార్తీక్ సుబ్బరాజ్ గారికి కృతఙ్ఞతలు.” అన్నారు.

Kollywood star Suriya plays the lead role in the film ‘Retro,’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj, with Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Produced under the 2D Entertainment banner led by Suriya and Jyothika, the film is set for a grand worldwide release on May 1. Notably, prominent Telugu production house Sitara Entertainments is distributing the film in the Telugu states. On Saturday evening, a grand pre-release event was held at JRC Convention in Hyderabad, where popular actor Vijay Deverakonda attended as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Vijay Deverakonda said, “Namaste to everyone. I hope you’re all doing well. Before talking about the film, I would like to pay my respects to the victims of the Pahalgam incident. I’m happy to be here to promote Suriya anna’s movie. I fell in love with his acting after watching Ghajini. I was curious to know who he was and watched all his other films. Suriya Son of Krishnan was especially close to my heart. The ‘Chanchala’ song moved me emotionally and has remained a beautiful memory. Watching Suriya anna on screen, I was in awe of his physique, acting, and dance. I once dreamed of meeting him, and now sharing the stage with him is an unforgettable moment. I truly admire him as an actor. His choice of films inspires others in the industry, and he always explores different genres. I wish him a huge success with ‘Retro’. Through the Agaram Foundation, Suriya anna has supported countless students, and he inspires me to do the same. I hope everyone enjoys ‘Retro’ when it releases on May 1.”
Suriya said, “First, I offer my condolences to the victims of the Pahalgam tragedy. Thank you to everyone who came to the Retro event. I’m overwhelmed by the love you’ve been showing me. Karthik Subbaraj’s films are always unique and innovative. It was a joy to work with him. I hope you all liked the Retro trailer. Santhosh Narayanan has composed amazing music, and in Telugu, Shyam has penned beautiful lyrics. I’m happy to share the screen with senior actors like Prakash Raj, Joju George, Jayaram, and Nassar. Pooja Hegde is promoting the film even more than I am. Just like you saw in the trailer, the movie has love, comedy, action, and intensity. I believe ‘Retro’ will win your hearts on May 1. People say Naga Vamsi has a lucky hand, and I’m glad to be working with him. I’m also happy to share that my next film will be under Naga Vamsi’s production and directed by Venky Atluri. I hope Nani’s ‘HIT-3′, also releasing on May 1, will be successful. Vijay is like a younger brother to me, and I feel proud seeing his journey. I wish his film ‘KINGDOM’ becomes a big success. Talented director Venky Atluri said, “There are many fans of Suriya garu here, and I’m one of them. During my college days, Suriya’s films were like lessons to me. After watching Ghajini, I was amazed and thought, can a movie be like this? Can an actor work this hard? It was one of the films that made me want to join the industry. ‘Soorarai Pottru’ wasn’t just a film – it was a textbook. It taught how to fall in love, how to deal with heartbreak, and even discipline. We’ve learned something from each of Suriya’s films. Now he’s coming with ‘Retro’, and Karthik Subbaraj’s making style is always unique. I’ve never seen a trailer cut like this before, so I believe the film will be on the same level. Lyricist Kasarla Shyam said, “Suriya sir has a huge fan base in Telugu. I had the opportunity to write all six songs in this film. This is my second collaboration with director Karthik Subbaraj. I’ve received messages from many Suriya fans appreciating that the lyrics don’t feel like Tamil translations but sound like native Telugu, which makes me very happy.”
Actor Karunakaran said, “Acting in a film with Suriya sir, whom I deeply admire, feels like a dream come true. I’m grateful to director Karthik Subbaraj for giving me this opportunity.”
