Actor-writer Siddhu Jonnalagadda used the lockdown to his advantage in fine tuning the script of DJ Tillu. Siddhu has co-written the screenplay with director Vimal Krishna and penned the dialogues. The film is a blend of wackiness, drama, and loads of laughter. Though it was a tightrope walk to shine in both acting and writing departments, Siddhu blazed his way through the process. The trailer has got a lot of buzz and everyone’s eagerly waiting to watch DJ Tillu on the big screen on February 12.

Here are the excerpts from Siddhu’s interaction with media.

Is DJ Tillu inspired from your life and experiences?

DJ Tillu is a love story with a dash of crime and loads of comedy. The story unfolds from Tillu’s perspective. I witnessed many weird characters since childhood and explored for a canvas to fit them. Finally, they found their way into DJ Tillu.

How living in Malkajgiri, Secunderabad influenced you in writing for the film?

I spent most of my life in and around Malkajgiri and many characters are born out of my experiences. They are extreme and eccentric and claim to walk an extra mile for friendship. They drink a single tea in an Irani café but talk about building the planet. One wants to be a youth leader, one dabbles with real estate, one is a mentor to others, and the list is endless. They are sweet and genuine, but they carry a bag of craziness with them.

On the use of Hyderabad slang in DJ Tillu?

There is a proper Telangana flavour in DJ Tillu. When the character gets into an extreme zone, he even speaks Warangal slang. I had friends who speak a different slang and that got into me. Also, I studied in a central school and that brushed my Hindi and English. When I write, I ensure to use the language and slangs to right effect to generate fun.

More about Tillu’s character

Tillu is not at all talented and lives in a false world. He claims to be a great DJ but all he does is to play for some local events. He has a bunch of friends who elevate him to a different level and paint a glory around him. He throws some parties to stay in their good books and that’s all. He is least worried about his career and becomes a victim of his creation. In a scene from the trailer, he compares himself with celebrities. He hails from a middle-class family so despite knowing the fashion trends in Australia, he can’t afford to revamp his wardrobe. He develops a lot of inferiority complex, and the drama unfolds accordingly. Enough said, please witness more of Tillu on screens.

On penning the dialogue for DJ Tillu

Everything happened spontaneously. During the first lockdown, things were messy. Vimal and I indulged in cooking, cleaning, and lot of things along with writing the script. In our discussions, we found something substantial that went into the story.

Why DJ as a profession for Tillu?

The DJs I saw till now had an artistic life, wacky clothing, Telangana accent, and many eccentricities. I overheard many conversations where people are discussing getting an entry into the club and many other things. It was fascinating with their talks. It luckily worked out for DJ Tillu and we were successful in creating a different world on screen.

When the movie was titled Narudi Bratuku Natana were you aiming for an OTT release?

We always wanted to release the film in cinemas. On the title front, everyone who used to check on me for the film’s progress asked me about Tillu. Then we thought Tillu had a better recall value so named it DJ Tillu. The change happened just before the teaser was out.

On narrating the story to producers

We pitched the story to producer Naga Vamsi garu. Ours is a comedy film and his reaction was minimal. We initially though it was not good. But he liked it and later we narrated it to Chinnababu garu. There were inputs from Trivikram and producers, and we made changes wherever needed. Trivikram even labelled the film a HIT after watching the final copy. There was a lot of freedom for us in terms of making the film.

Is DJ Tillu similar to Deccan cinema?

I can say DJ Tillu is a well-packaged product. You can call it an old wine in a new bottle. It has the soul of Deccan cinema and is wrapped in fine colours.

Did you expect such a buzz for the trailer?

I was very confident that the trailer will work. The credit for the song goes to Ram Miriyala. I gave a description of Tillu and he chiselled it to perfection.

What are the limits for Tillu’s character?

There are no limits for Tillu. In fact, we may plan a sequel too if things work well. Tillu has a wealth of information and uses it to keep an upmanship. This can be explored and stretched to any extreme.

If not movies, then what?

I would have become a lawyer.

Are you planning to write or co-write for your next films?

Acting is my forte. Many things happened by chance, so is writing. I am more of an actor and can slip into the shoes of a writer when needed. I am a not a writer by profession, but by desperation. I am not part of the writing team for my next films with Sitara and SVCC.

Any plans of getting into direction?

Not as of now.

Vimal is your friend. Has the helped in writing for DJ Tillu?

I vibe well with Vimal. We had some problems while approaching the script and shoot but thanks to the wonderful producers, we got all of them sorted. On the location, Vimal and I had a gala time conceiving the scenes. We did the whole shoot in a relaxed way.

On singing a song

I sang the song during the time of Guntur Talkies. But unfortunately, couldn’t use it there. We tried to place it in Kshanam, Krishna and his Leela, Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinumagm, but finally it happened in DJ Tillu.

On driving a customized vehicle in DJ Tillu

We wanted to design it crazily and this happened. The vehicle also speaks a lot about DJ Tillu’s character.

Siddhu the actor and Siddhu the writer – who dominates whom?

There is no competition as I equally enjoyed both. That being said, DJ Tillu was a tough film to write. There were many on spot improvisations. Tillu has to speak always and visualising and writing a character that has so much of brimming energy was difficult at times.

About the family

My mother worked for All India Radio, and I used to go with her for recordings. That generated interest in music. My father worked for BSNL and my brother lives in the US. I got an IT job after my engineering but didn’t take it as my interest was in cinema. We are a middle-class family with our set of struggles, and you can see some of it around DJ Tillu as well.

Parting words

The movie has come out well and the entire team tried to live up to the expectations of Sithara Entertainments. They have a big reputation and a legacy of films. We will add another great film to the banner.

- సినిమాలకు ముందు షార్ట్ ఫిలింస్ చేశాను. ఒకట్రెండు చిత్రాల్లో నటించాను. కానీ నా ఆలోచన ఎప్పుడూ ఒక మంచి కథను తెరపై చూపించాలి అని ఉండేది. ఆన్ స్క్రీన్ ఉండాలనే కోరిక తక్కువ. సిద్దూ నాకు పదేళ్లుగా తెలుసు. తన బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్, ఎలా మాట్లాడుతాడు ఇవన్నీ చూశా. నేను కథ రాసుకున్నప్పుడు ఈ టిల్లు క్యారెక్టర్ కు సిద్ధు చాలా దగ్గరగా ఉన్నట్లు అనిపించింది. సిద్ధూకు చెబితే చాలా బాగుందని చేసేందుకు ముందుకొచ్చాడు. నేను కథ రాస్తే, సిద్ధూ డైలాగ్స్ రాశాడు. మేమిద్దరం కలిసి రచన చేశాం. మేము మాట్లాడుకుంటున్నప్పడే చాలా సంభాషణలు వచ్చేవి. వాటిని సినిమాలో ఉపయోగించాం. లాక్ డౌన్ ముందు రాసిన కథ ఇది. తర్వాత మాకు ఇంప్రూమెంట్ చేసుకునేందుకు కావాల్సినంత సమయం దొరికింది. దాంతో వీలైనంత డీటైయిల్డ్ గా స్క్రిప్ట్ రెడీ చేశాం. నా దగ్గర ఇది కాక మరో మూడు నాలుగు కథలు ఉన్నాయి. అయితే నా తొలి సినిమా ప్రభావాన్ని చూపించాలి. జనాల్లోకి వెళ్లాలి. అందుకే యూత్ ఫుల్ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ కథతో తొలి సినిమా రూపొందించాను.

- సిద్ధూ నేనూ సినిమాను చూసే విధానం ఒకేలా ఉంటుంది. కమర్షియల్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ ఎలా ఉండాలి అనే విషయంలో ఇద్దరం దాదాపు ఒకేలా ఆలోచిస్తాం. మా మధ్య ఎప్పుడూ క్రియేటివ్ విబేధాలు రాలేదు. కృష్ణ అండ్ హిజ్ లీల సినిమా విడుదలయ్యాక నిర్మాత వంశీ గారి దగ్గర నుంచి సిద్ధూకు కాల్ వచ్చింది. అప్పటికే మా దగ్గర   డిజె టిల్లు కథ సిద్దంగా ఉంది. వెంటనే వెళ్లి చెప్పాం. ఆయనకు నచ్చడంతో సితారలో సినిమా మొదలైంది. సినిమా తొలి భాగాన్ని ఎంత ఆస్వాదిస్తారో, ద్వితీయార్థాన్నీ చూస్తూ అంతే ఆనందిస్తారు.

- ట్రైలర్ లో చూస్తే నాయిక చుట్టూ ముగ్గురు నలుగురు మగాళ్లు ఉన్నట్లు చూపించాం. ఆ నలుగురు సోదరులు అవొచ్చు, స్నేహితులు అవొచ్చు. కానీ సమాజం మహిళను ఆ సందర్భంలో చూసే కోణం వేరు. ఈ దృక్పథం తప్పు. అయితే ఈ విషయాన్ని సందేశంగా చెబితే ఎవరికీ నచ్చదు. లోతుగా వెళ్లి చర్చిస్తే విసుగొస్తుంది. కానీ నవ్విస్తూ, వినోదాత్మకంగా చూపిస్తే చూస్తారు. మేము ఎంటర్ టైనింగ్ దారిని ఎంచుకుని డిజె టిల్లు చేశాం.

- ట్రైలర్ లో రొమాంటిక్ ఫ్లేవర్ చూసి ఇది పూర్తి రొమాంటిక్ సినిమా అనుకుంటున్నారు కానీ సినిమాలో కథానుసారం అలా కొంత రొమాంటిక్ సందర్భాలు ఉంటాయి. కావాలని రొమాన్స్ ఎక్కడా చేయించలేదు. అది హద్దులు దాటేలా ఉండదు. సిద్దూ హైదరాబాద్ కుర్రాడు, అతనిలో డిజె టిల్లు క్వాలిటీస్ ఉన్నాయి. ఆ బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్ మేకోవర్ అంతా దగ్గరగా ఉంటుంది. కాబట్టి క్యారెక్టర్ లోకి త్వరగా వెళ్లిపోగలిగాడు. నరుడు బ్రతుకు నటన అని ముందు టైటిల్ అనుకున్నాం కానీ సినిమా గురించి ఎవరికి చెప్పినా ఇది డిజె టిల్లు కదా అనేవారు. దాంతో అదే పేరును టైటిల్ గా పెట్టుకున్నాం.

- టిల్లు తన గురించి తాను గొప్పగా ఊహించుకుంటాడు. అందుకే మహేష్ బాబు, అల్లు అర్జున్ లతో పోల్చుకుంటాడు. హీరోకున్న ఈ క్వాలిటీ ఫన్ క్రియేట్ చేస్తుంటుంది. సినిమాలో నాయిక పేరు రాధిక. మాటల్లో..జాతీయ ఉత్తమ నటి రాధిక ఆప్తే అని సరదాగా అనుకున్నాం. అది సినిమాలో అలాగే పెట్టాం. నిర్మాత నాగవంశీ చాలా సపోర్ట్ చేశారు. ఏది ఎలా కావాలంటే అలాగే చేయండని ప్రోత్సహించారు. ఎప్పుడూ ఇది వద్దు అని చెప్పలేదు. సితార ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్స్ సంస్థకు కుటుంబ కథా చిత్రాల సంస్థ అని పేరుంది. అలాగని డిజె టిల్లు కథను తెరకెక్కించడంలో కాంప్రమైజ్ కాలేదు. సహజంగా మా కథలోనే ఎవరికీ ఇబ్బందిలేని అంశాలున్నాయి.

- త్రివిక్రమ్ గారు స్క్రిప్టు విషయంలో మంచి సూచనలు ఇచ్చారు. త్రివిక్రమ్ గారిని తరుచూ కలవడం, మీటింగ్స్ ఈ సినిమాతో మాకు దొరికిన గొప్ప జ్ఞాపకాలు.

- డిజె టిల్లు ద్వారా కొత్త టేకింగ్, ఫ్రెష్ మేకింగ్ చూపించాలన్నదే మా ప్రయత్నం. ఆ ప్రయత్నంలో సఫలం అయ్యామని అనుకుంటున్నాము. నాకు ఇష్టమైన హీరో పవన్ కళ్యాణ్. ట్రైలర్ చూశాక ఇద్దరు ముగ్గురు నిర్మాతలు సినిమా చేద్దామని ఫోన్ చేశారు. సినిమా కుదిరాక వివరాలు వెల్లడిస్తా.

Director Vimal Krishna after a short streak of acting in films such as Jersey and Bommala Ramaram wielded the megaphone for his directorial debut, DJ Tillu. The movie has a lineup of wonderful actors including Siddhu, Neha Shetty, Prince Cecil, Brahmaji, among others, and is slated for a Pre-Valentine’s Day release on February 12.

Here are the excerpts from Vimal Krishna’s interaction with media.

On the idea of DJ Tillu

I stumbled upon this idea in 2019 and then shared it with Siddhu who got excited after listening to it. Then we developed the script together and lockdown happened. We used that phase to our advantage and we designed each character and scene to perfection. Thanks to everything, the scripting process happened organically and now we are excited for the film.

Why DJ Tillu?

I have a bank of scripts but the one that excited me the most is DJ Tillu. Also, my intention was to create a lot of impact with my first film and DJ Tillu has all the right does of ingredients and gave me a lot of scope to explore and experiment.

On choosing Siddhu for the lead role

I knew Siddhu since 2012. I know his body language, the emotions he can portray well and the way he thinks through. So, in all aspects, Siddhu is the apt fit for DJ Tillu. When I got this idea, I felt Siddhu can do complete justice to the character.

On becoming a director after a shot at acting

I acted in Jersey and Bommala Ramaram as they are directed by my friends, and I did most of the work on the sets as well. I was involved in the Production and part of the direction department. I always wanted to be a storyteller and don the hat that give a wide reach to my stories. So, direction was bound to happen and when I was doing short films, I always wanted to be off screen.

On collaborating with Siddhu on the script

Our functioning is similar, we laugh at the crazy and weird stuff, and play devil’s advocate to each other. Siddhu is very talkative and he talks a lot during the script discussions and I used to grab something fruitful to be included in our film from those conversations. Siddhu and I have the same grasp for sarcasm. We watch movies with a similar thinking, comedy aspects and commercial viability. I knew Siddhu since a long time, and our contributions are balanced. If I feel something doesn’t work out, we move from that topic. We used logical reasoning to ease out any difference and the process happened smoothly.

On the inspiration behind DJ Tillu

In our society, the way we look at women always hurts me. The trailer has many men after a woman, and I want to tap that perspective alongside add entertainment to it. We must grab someone’s attention and I experimented there. There is also a tacit message in the film.

Does the movie talks about a sensitive issue?

It won’t be too sensitive. Tillu’s character reacts to everything in the film, and anyone can be right from his/her perspective. There is nothing judgemental or deep thinking involved here. This is a fictional narrative with strong content.

On plugging some intimate scenes in the film

Based on the trailer and intimate scenes, you can’t label it as an adult comedy. They are relevant to the film, and nothing is force fitted. Once you watch the film, you will know the relevance of the scenes. As I told earlier, I believe in building scenes organically rather than planting them for thrills. I believe in making films that should not hurt the feelings of anyone. I have a limit and a balance which I can’t cross.

Are you inspired from DJs?

During my early days in Hyderabad, I interacted with a lot of DJs and was bowled by the conversations, their body language and attitude. I thought of using these characters when I make a film, and now the protagonist is a DJ. This worked big time for the film and Siddhu took it to next level with his portrayal.

DJ Tillu, the first choice for the title?

It was initially titled ‘Narudi Brathuku Natana’, then we changed it to DJ Tillu. As the movie was full of DJ Tillu and his character and ‘Narudi Brathuku Natana’ gave it a serious tone, so we didn’t want to go for it.

On working in direction department before the debut

I worked for Ravikanth Perupu, director of Kshanam. We were classmates. He got me into the industry. I worked for the previous films of Siddhu.

On facing different challenges

At the shoot location, there were many challenges, but I faced them with a smile. I wanted to lead a team since childhood and was a captain in cricket as well. I never got carried away with challenges and ensured they didn’t affect the end product as I can’t compromise on the quality. When an actor drops out of a day’s shoot, it should not affect the end product. So I had my checks and measures to avoid any unforeseen occurrences.

On Trivikram’s inputs

Trivikram sir was very helpful with his inputs for the script. We noted them, analysed later and them incorporated most of them. He used to share a lot of experiences during discussions and those were really insightful.

On Allu Arjun reference in the film

DJ Tillu feels he is a big celebrity and gives himself humongous hype. There are Mahesh babu, Allu Arjun, and Arjit Singh references in the film to ride the wave of his popularity.

Is Radhika’s character modelled on Radika Apte?

In a scene there is a metaphorical reference to Radhika Apte as per her performance, but nothing related to the actual star.

Voice over with actors, producers and the director

All of us gave a voice over for the much-needed impact. These things have a lot of reach and we wanted to take our film to next level with this gesture.

On the support received from Sitara Entertainments

I am debutant director but never felt that while working for Sitara Entertainments. Vamshi garu gave me full support. Chinnababu garu also extended the helping hand when needed. Another film might happen with Sitara but we haven’t started the formal discussion.

What are your strengths?

I like Guy Ritchie films a lot. They are whacky and I liked such things in my films. I love action thrillers.

On his admiration towards actors and directors

I put director Rajamouli at the highest point for the way he weaves different commercial elements in his stories. I grew up watching Pawan Kalyan’s films at Jagadamba theatre, Vizag. When I watched the star at Bheemla Nayak shoot that was a memorable experience for me.

On the trending songs of DJ Tillu

Happy to see that all the songs from the film are trending. In weddings and other functions, there will be many foot tapping numbers and I wanted my film songs to get there one day. Recently, when I went home at 2 am after the day’s work, I could hear people dancing to DJ Tillu’s songs during the Sankranti festivities.

On the trailer becoming an instant hit with the youth

DJ Tillu is a character who can be seen in everyone. He is expressive, he shows off, he has his way out with things. This character echoes with many people. I also thought this guy is more like me, but you he is more like Siddhu.

Any resistance from family

I studied B.Tech in Vizag and during the middle of my course my family shifted to Hyderabad. Once I landed in Hyderabad, I straight away jumped into films. My father had a fascination for films and long back he left home to meet Superstar Krishna in Madras. He stayed there for 2-3 months and then he was brought back home. As he is a lover of cinema, there was no resistance from anyone in the family to pursue my dreams.

*On releasing Nuvvala song for Siddhu’s birthday*

The song presents a new avatar of Siddhu – the singer. Composed by Sricharan Pakala and penned by Ravikanth Perepu, the song tugs at your heartstrings with Siddhu’s mesmerizing rendition. This is a perfect gift for Siddhu and music lovers on his birthday.

Actress Neha Shetty is all set to put the screens on fire with her portrayal of an honest, new-age girl Radhika in her latest outing, DJ Tillu. The trailer released recently is getting a lot of attention for its quirks and characters, and it gives an impression of a laugh riot. Directed by Vimal Krishna with Siddhu, Neha Shetty, Prince Cecil, Brahmaji in key roles, the film is slated for a mega release on February 12th. That’s a great gift during the Valentine week.

Here are the excerpts from the Neha Shetty’s interaction with media.

*On her career journey*

I wanted to become an actress and it was my childhood dream. I did a lot of ads – Horlicks, Kissan, Sakshi newspaper, and was crowned Miss South India. That caught the attention of director Shashank and I was offered a role in Kannada film, Mungaru Male 2. Then I acted in Puri Jagannadh’s Mehbooba. Then took a break and did a 6-month acting course in New York Film Academy. I was occupied with my studies and a lot of other activities so never got time to enrol myself into a formal acting course, so I got into that. After my course, I acted in Gully Rowdy and Most Eligible Bachelor, and now I am coming with DJ Tillu, and I am super excited about it.

*On her character in DJ Tillu*

My character’s name in DJ Tillu is Radhika. The reference to Radhika Apte in the trailer got everyone in splits. Radhika is an intelligent, new-age girl who is confident and knows her stuff well. She is honest and doesn’t care much about the popular opinion. This is a real fun to watch on screen. A lot of women will connect with Radhika and the power of speaking up.

*On the time taken to prepare for the character*

To be frank, in just 3 days I was in the character. I could relate to the character very well. That’s how I want the characters to be – straightforward and confident. This is somewhat different to the regular girl next door like characters. That impressed me a lot.

*On the humour and Telangana slang in DJ Tillu*

I don’t know much of Telangana slang and there aren’t many movies in that zone. I learnt some Telugu and try to enjoy the script, the dialogues in Telangana slang. The comedy is fresh and instantly clicked with me.

*Any difficult scenes to act in the film*

Director Vimal is very clear in the way he wants a particular scene to shape up. He gave freedom and asked me to explore the character differently. I tried something new, and it worked. So, I didn’t see the whole thing as difficult. It took some time for me to showcase the confidence in the character, otherwise it was a joy ride. In olden times, there are certain antics with which they portrayed confidence, but here we tried differently. It was little tricky to bring out the subtleties, but it was worth the effort.

*On researching for the role of Radhika*

I didn’t spend much time researching for the role. I rather had some meaningful discussions with Siddu and Vimal to understand and practice for the role. The worked well.

*What connected you with Radhika’s character?*

I can talk a lot about the character and there are loads to talk about it. But you have to see it to believe it. There is a reason why Radhika is different and there is an air of mystique around her. And I will hold the surprises so you can get those from watching DJ Tillu.

*On signing for the film*

The production house, Sithara Entertainment, is big and it’s a great opportunity for me. The whole combination of cast and crew is power-packed. Siddhu and Vimal are very creative. DJ Tillu is a blend of comedy, romance and thriller. The trailer gives a glimpse of all the elements. I am lucky to be here with Sithara and a wonderful team.

*Few years back there were a few intimate scenes in films, but now there are plenty?*

A scene originates from the writer or film-maker’s desk. If the writer feels intimacy is apt to covey certain emotion, then there be it. So, it all comes from within. If you are planting an intimate scene just for the sake of it, then it comes out as a sore thumb.

*On working with Siddhu*

He is multi-talented. He is amazing in acting and there is so much to learn from him. I had jolly time during the shoot. The director had to say cut so many times as I couldn’t stop laughing even after the scene is over. That’s the magic of Siddhu on sets. I was surprised to know that he was a singer too.

*The effect of lockdown on shoot and production of DJ Tillu?*

It didn’t affect much as everyone was busy to make the best product. We used our times in a better way in fine tuning DJ Tillu. You’ll appreciate that when you see it on screen.

*On attending game shows*

It’s a fun experience and a good way to promote our film. I really enjoyed playing the games and interacting with the anchors and fellow participants.

*Are you prepared to handle trolls and comments on social media?*

We are all humans, and everyone has an opinion. I let people to live in their space and I live in mine. I can pretty much handle the comments and trolls, if any, on social media and won’t let them impact my life and career. I am watchful of the happenings, and I handle them personally and also got a team for it. I believe in personal touch so will reply to a few comments personally.

*Are you happy for the way the career shaping up?*

Happy as of now. Taking it slow and doing good projects. Not kind of choosy but want to take the right projects.

*On many Shettys coming to Telugu film industry*

It’s a healthy sign that many aspiring people from Mangalore are making inroads into Telugu film industry. It’s good to see them growing.

*What’s the inspiration for becoming an actor?*

I was 2 years old when I saw Hrithik Roshan’s first film. I was in awe with his dancing. I love dancing and want to emulate him in many ways. This generated interest in dancing and acting. My school was supportive at that time, and everyone watched my first film and supported me through my acting journey.

*Parting words*

DJ Tillu is a Mass entertainer. It’s a laugh riot. During the pandemic there were many ups and downs in people’s live and this movie will make them forget everything. Please go watch it.

డిజె టిల్లు ట్రైలర్ చూస్తే..కంప్లీట్ యూత్ ఫుల్ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ గా ఉంది. అందమైన అమ్మాయి రాధికను సొంతం చేసుకునేందుకు డిజె టిల్లు అన్ని ప్రయత్నాలూ చేస్తుంటాడు. అల్లు అర్జున్ కొత్త సినిమాకు మ్యూజిక్ చేయబోతున్నానంటూ అతను చెప్పుకునే గొప్పలు, చేసే అల్లరి పనులు ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి. నేను నిన్ను హోల్ హార్టెడ్ గా లవ్ చేసిన రాధిక, తెలిసే నన్ను హౌలాగాడిని చేస్తున్నావ్ సో స్వీట్ ఆఫ్ యూ రాధికా వంటి డైలాగ్స్ పేలాయి. రాధిక తనొక్కరికే సొంతం కాదని తెలిసినప్పుడు డిజె టిల్లు అసహనం నవ్విస్తుంది. రాధిక టిల్లుకే దక్కిందా?, ఇంకెవరి ప్రేమనైనా అంగీకరించిందా? అనే అంశాలు సినిమా మీద ఆసక్తిని పెంచుతున్నాయి.

సిద్ధు జొన్నలగడ్డ మాట్లాడుతూ “ట్రైలర్ అందరికీ నచ్చిందని ఆశిస్తున్నా. విమల్ కృష్ణ, నేను డిస్కస్ చేసుకుని కథ, స్క్రీన్ ప్లే రాశాం. డైలాగ్స్ నేను రాశా. థియేటర్ లో మీరు బాగా నవ్వుకుంటారు. నేను జీవితంలో చూసిన సందర్భాలు, మనుషులు, నా స్వభావాలు కొన్ని కలిపి ఈ క్యారెక్టర్ రాసుకున్నాము. డిజె టిల్లు పాత్రకు హద్దులు ఉండదు, ఏదైనా మాట్లాడుతాడు. ఏ సందర్భానైన్నా ఎదుర్కొంటాడు. త్రివిక్రమ్ గారు స్క్రిపు విషయంలో మంచి సలహాలు ఇచ్చి ప్రోత్సహించారు. నిర్మాత వంశి మాకు పూర్తిగా సపోర్ట్ చేశారు.  ఈ సినిమా రాసేటప్పుడు మాకు అండగా నిలబడిన త్రివిక్రమ్ గారికి థాంక్స్ చెప్పాలి. కొన్నిసార్లు మా సినిమా పొటెన్షియల్ ఏంటో ఆయన మాకు గుర్తు చేసేవారు. రచయితగా నా మీద ఆయన ప్రభావం ఉంది. జంధ్యాల గారి ప్రభావం కూడా ఉంది. డైలాగులతో కథను ముందుకు తీసుకువెళ్లే సినిమాలు నాకు ఇష్టం. స్పేస్ లేనిచోట ఎలా క్రియేట్ చేయాలో ఆయన్ను చూసి తెలుసుకున్నాను. త్రివిక్రమ్ గారితో టైం స్పెండ్ చేస్తే ఏమైనా చేయవచ్చనే ఫీలింగ్ వస్తుంది.  ఒక ఫార్మాట్ ప్రకారం ప్లాన్ తో చేసిన సినిమా కాదు. మా నిర్మాత వంశీ గారు దేనికీ నో చెప్పరు. అప్పుడప్పుడూ మేం ఇంత ఖర్చు పెట్టొద్దని అన్నాం. కానీ, ఆయన ఎక్కడా తగ్గొద్దని చెప్పారు. కావాలంటే సీన్లు మళ్ళీ తీయమని చెప్పారు. నేను నెక్స్ట్ సినిమా కూడా సితారలో చేస్తున్నాను. దాని తర్వాత ఇంకో సినిమా కూడా చేస్తున్నాను. నాకు సితార హోమ్ బ్యానర్ లాంటిది. నేను, విమల్ ఫస్ట్ కొవిడ్‌లో రాసిన కథ. చాలా నేచురల్ ప్రాసెస్ లో రాశాం. 100 పర్సెంట్ కొడుతున్నాం. ఇది చాలా ఎంటర్టైనింగ్ ఫిలిం. థియేటర్లకు వెళ్లిన అందరూ కళ్లల్లో నీళ్లు వచ్చేలా నవ్వుతారు. ఈ సినిమాలో హీరోయిన్ క్యారెక్టర్ ఇంపార్టెంట్. ఈ సినిమా అమ్మాయి గురించి. ఆమె జీవితంలోకి డిజె టిల్లు లాంటి క్యారెక్టర్ వస్తే ఏం జరిగిందనేది సినిమా. యూత్ కు రిలేట్ అయ్యేలా సినిమా తీశాం” అని అన్నారు.

దర్శకుడు విమల్ కృష్ణ మాట్లాడుతూ “ఫస్ట్ లాక్‌డౌన్‌లో నేను, సిద్ధు కథ మీద కూర్చున్నప్పుడు… సినిమా బిగినింగ్ నుంచి ఎండింగ్ వరకు జనాల్ని నవ్వించాలనే మోటివ్ తో ఉన్నాం. టీజర్ చూశారు. ఇప్పుడు ట్రైలర్ చూశారు. ఇది అవుట్ అండ్ అవుట్ ఫన్ మూవీ. ఆడియన్స్ అందరూ ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారు.
నన్నూ సిద్దూని నమ్మారు నిర్మాత వంశి అన్న. రెండేళ్ల కిందట నేనూ సిద్ధూ ఈ కథ రాసుకున్నాం. సినిమా చూస్తున్నంత సేపూ ప్రేక్షకులు నవ్వుకోవాలి అనేది ఒక్కటే మా ఆలోచనలో ఉండేది. ఔట్ అండ్ ఔట్ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ సినిమా ఇది. అన్నారు.

హీరోయిన్ నేహా శెట్టి మాట్లాడుతూ…డిజె టిల్లు ట్రైలర్ నాకు బాగా నచ్చింది. మీకు కూడా నచ్చిందని అనుకుంటున్నాను. ఇంత పెద్ద చిత్రంలో అవకాశం ఇచ్చిన నిర్మాత వంశి గారికి థాంక్స్. రాధిక క్యారెక్టర్ నేను చేయగలను అని నమ్మిన దర్శకుడు విమల్ కూడా థాంక్స్. సిద్ధు మల్టీటాలెంటెడ్. అతనితో కలిసి పనిచేయడం సరదాగా ఉండటమే కాదు ఎంతో నేర్చుకున్నాను. డిజె టిల్లు ఫన్, మాస్ ఎంటర్ టైనింగ్ సినిమా. నేను కథ విన్నప్పుడు ఎంతగా ఎంజాయ్ చేశానో సినిమా చూస్తున్నప్పుడు మీరూ అంతే ఆస్వాదిస్తారు అన్నారు.

ప్రిన్స్ మాట్లాడుతూ “ఈ సినిమాలో నటించే అవకాశం ఇచ్చిన వంశీ అన్నకు థాంక్యూ. చాలా ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తూ సినిమా చేశాం. చాలా రోజుల తర్వాత సిద్ధూతో కాంబినేషన్ లో చేశా. బయట మేం ఎంత ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తామో, సెట్ లో కూడా అంతే ఎంజాయ్ చేశాం. ఈ సినిమాతో నాకు ఇద్దరు కొత్త ఫ్రెండ్స్ విమల్ కృష్ణ, నేహా శెట్టి పరిచయం అయ్యారు. ఈ సినిమాతో నాకు మంచి జ్ఞాపకాలు ఉన్నాయి. ఇదొక ఫన్ ఫిల్మ్. వంశీ అన్నకు ముందే కంగ్రాట్స్ చెబుతున్నా. సిద్దు పెద్ద హిట్ కొడుతున్నాడు” అని అన్నారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో ఆదిత్య మ్యూజిక్  నిరంజన్ రెడ్డి, మాధవ్  తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda fires all cylinders in the hilarious trailer of DJ Tillu

DJ Tillu, starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Neha Shetty in the lead roles, is a full-on entertainer directed by debutant Vimal Krishna and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments in collaboration with Fortune Four Cinemas. Vimal Krishna and Siddhu have worked on the story and screenplay. Having impressed audiences with the promos, teaser and the two songs (the title track and Pataas Pilla), the much-anticipated trailer of the film was launched at AMB Mall, Hyderabad today.

The trailer starts with the title character DJ Tillu proclaiming that he’s got an opportunity to compose for Allu Arjun’s film and that the star is a big fan of his music. Tillu is head over heels in love with Radhika but suspects she’s cheating on him. He later talks about a piece of land that many people claim to own (including him) and tries to settle the issue. Radhika is frustrated with Tillu’s insecurities and another guy appears to be the third wheel in their relationship. On a sarcastic note, the trailer ends with Tillu offering tips to Radhika about managing an affair without getting caught.

The film has all the ingredients to be a non-stop entertainment ride with Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s on-screen energy, terrific dialogue delivery. While Neha Shetty grabs a meaty role, the presence of Brahmaji, Prince Cecil and Narra Srinivas guarantees rip-roaring laughter at the theatres. The spirited background score and music by the likes of S Thaman, Sricharan Pakala and Ram Miriyala enhance the impact of the trailer further.

” We (I and Vimal) wrote the film during the first COVID-19 lockdown when we were panicking about almost everything and anything. DJ Tillu is a character sans any inhibition, has a unique body language and speaks his heart out. I’m quite confident about DJ Tillu’s prospects at the box office, it’s mass entertainment at its best. Audiences will burst out laughing endlessly throughout the film. Trivikram (sir) has been a huge pillar of support and motivated us about the film’s potential time and again,” Siddhu Jonnalagadda stated.

“I enjoyed the trailer and I hope audiences like it too. I thank Naga Vamsi (garu) for giving me an opportunity to work in a leading banner and my director Vimal Krishna for believing that I could play Radhika. Working with a multi-talented co-star like Siddhu was a great learning curve. It was super-fun working with Prince. DJ Tillu is a perfect mass entertainer and I’m sure it will leave viewers in splits in theatres,” Neha Shetty said.

“I am grateful to Naga Vamsi (garu) for trusting us (me and Siddhu) wholeheartedly with DJ Tillu. When we began working on the film, our only motto was to entertain audiences as much as possible. DJ Tillu is an out-and-out fun movie and I earned a new friend through the making, in the form of Prince. We were batchmates in the same college but we couldn’t meet because he hardly came there,” director Vimal Krishna added.

“DJ Tillu is a fun film aimed at the youth and will be a special attraction for this Valentine’s Day. I thoroughly enjoyed working on a young, vibrant film after a long time,” producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi shared.

DJ Tillu has music by Ram Miriyala and Sricharan Pakala while S Thaman has come up with the background score. The film is slated for a release on February 11.
