Jersey is a movie that is well deserved of the national awards that it has received. Very happy to have received two awards. -Young Producer Suryadevara Naga vamshi

‘Jersey’ starring Natural star Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles, was directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments banner. The film won two National Awards i.e, Best Telugu Film and Best Editor (Navin Nooli). While enjoying this honour, the producer Naga Vamsi is super busy with the promotions of ‘Rang De’ which is gearing up for March 26th release.

On Tuesday Naga Vamsi interacted with the media and shared his thoughts on ‘Jersey,’ ‘Rang De’ and details of his future projects.

Speaking Naga Vamsi said, “We are expecting awards for ‘Jersey.’ Due to the pandemic, the National Awards were not announced and so it flipped from everyone’s mind. But all of a sudden the National Awards were announced. We were completely surprised and at the same time overjoyed by the honours. Hero Nani did put in a great effort while Gowtam’s hard work is no less.”

On ‘Jersey’ Naga Vamsi added when director Gowtam narrated the script he liked it. “Basically I love cricket and I got instantly connected because there were strong emotions too. Director Gowtam said he wants to do ‘Jersey’ with Nani but I had my inhibitions because Nani has to play the role of a father to a seven years old. As and when Nani heard the script, he immediately said okay and he was not at all worried to play a father and in the end he delivered an outstanding performance,” said Naga Vamsi.

When asked about the commercial success of the film, the young producer replied that ‘Jersey’ fared well at the box office. “My Babai (Producer Suryadevara Radha Krishna aka China Babu) always says that the audiences should not be bothered. We give top priority to entertainment and human emotions in the script we select. Yes ‘Jersey’ had low commercial elements but Nani, director and myself believed in the emotions and so we made the film. Except in Rayalaseem and Guntur, ‘Jersey’ fared well commercially. And with ‘Avengers: Endgame’ release, there was a drop in second week collections. Yet the film managed to pull the audiences,” said Naga Vamsi.

The producer further said he anticipated Filmfare awards for hero Nani and director Gowtam. But now they got a bigger reward than Filmfare.

About ‘Rang De’ Naga Vamsi said, this is a youthful family entertainer. “It’s a story of 24 years old engineering student. The film has human emotions. The first half will be breezy and entertaining whereas the second half will be heart-warming. The last 40 minutes is going to be heart-touching. Nithiin’s performance will be highlight,” said Naga Vamsi.

On ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ the producer said, “This is a tale of two people who are highly egoistic. The prime characters from the original are retained but for Telugu audiences some scenes are added and removed.”

About director Saagar Chandra, he said, “We have immense faith in the director’s work. But with Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati playing the lead roles, the project is a big one. To maintain the balance, director Trivikram came on board. He is providing the screenplay and dialogues for the movie.”

Aishwarya Rajesh is pairing up with Rana in this ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ remake while the leading lady opposite Pawan Kalyan is yet to be locked.

Regarding the future projects, Naga Vamsi said, “Varadu Kavalenu is the next and we are remaking Malayalam movie ‘Kappela’ in Telugu with ‘Butta Bomma.’ And ‘Narudi Brathuku Natana’ is in shooting stages and we are also planning a film with producer Bellamkonda Suresh’s second son, Ganesh Babu.”

On the Corona effect, the producer opined that there is nothing to fear now and the virus influence has come down in the recent times. “I don’t think lockdown will be imposed yet again,” said Naga Vamsi.
